Taapsee Pannu is known as one hell of a force to be reckoned with, be it in her fearless roles or her real-life personality. Pannu may have been on the road to success now, but it wasn’t always this easy for the Pink actress. In fact, her road to stardom bore many hardships, including facing unwarranted absurd behavior at the hands of producers and directors.
Yep, making it big ain’t all that rainbows and sunshine.
Although the actress started off her career with the South-Indian industry, Pannu still remembers how she had to face rejections and constant sexism and bullying in that industry as well. In a recent interview, she recalled an incident with a director where he literally hit her with a coconut! What even? Apparently, it was the director’s way of giving a tribute to beautiful actresses as he compared them to fruits and flowers. Yep, we’re just as shocked as you are, probably just as much as the actress herself.
“For me, it was a shock because I had not seen that happening so when I said that it was a shocker for me. It was very unusual for me to understand the director as it was his way of giving tribute to the beauty of the women because he compares it with flowers or fruits.”
Even then, the actress tried to make light of the situation by marveling over how she got a coconut as opposed to everyone else around.
“I made fun of myself saying I got a coconut and everyone else got a flower or a softer fruit.”
Further delving into her unfortunate experiences in the southern industry, Pannu recalled how she was blacklisted as the bad-luck charm because she was part of a two or three flop films. Talk about blatant cruelty!
“I was tagged with the bad luck charm which I had to battle for years because I had two-three flop films back to back.”
Well, seeing Pannu now, we bet those people are in a fit of regret. The actress is on her way to make it big and everyone’s here to witness it!
