Who doesn’t love Angelina Jolie? Whether it’s fangirling over her looks and being utterly fascinated by her movies, we’ve done it all! And with the sequel of Maleficient almost out, we just can’t wait to be spooked by the evil queen once again! Nevertheless, the stellar actress just recently did a candid interview with Elle which was all about empowering women — and this is why we love her so much!
While talking about how women these days are labeled with all kinds of names just for speaking their minds, Jolie reflected on how she always encourages her daughters to not bow down and to keep developing spiritually. She also mentioned how everything else comes secondary, and that your mind needs nourishment the most and should be your first priority. Yep, we’re with you on this!
“I often tell my daughters that the most important thing they can do is to develop their minds. You can always put on a pretty dress, but it doesn’t matter what you wear on the outside, if your mind isn’t strong. There is nothing more attractive—you might even say enchanting—than a woman with an independent will and her own opinions.”
The actress also mentioned how it is not just her daughters but her sons as well make the best of her pieces of advice and are growing up to exceptional young men!
“I could not be prouder of my sons for the men they are becoming, the way they respect their sisters and are respected by them.”
As for her piece of advice for women all around, Jolie believes that we often let ourselves lose sight of our goal, which we shouldn’t. Staying consistent and focused always helps, without bowing down to society’s absurd expectations. PREACH, SISTER!
“I think we can often go offtrack as women, because our instinct is to nurture or to adjust ourselves to society’s expectations. It can be hard to take the time to ask ourselves who we truly want to be—not what we think other people will approve of or accept, but who we really are. But when you listen to yourself, you can make the choice to step forward and learn and change.”
With that said, what do you think of Jolie’s thought process? Let us know in the comments!
