Plus, one can only imagine how powerful the duets will be with Harry’s voice crooning them! The singer has been making waves with his music lately, and it is about time we see him in a musical! the original lacked with songs on Eric’s part, but Disney made changes to this with their Broadway musical and included duets and solos for the lead pair.
While we are fully aware of Harry doing incredibly well in his music career, the singer is just great of an actor! He made his acting debut with 2017’s Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan’s World War II drama movie that grossed over $526 million worldwide. And to add to the success, it also managed to collect several Oscars. Talk about a triple threat rolled into one!
As for those who unaware of his role in the story, Prince Eric is the human who catches Ariel’s eye and she immediately falls in love with him. The mermaid saves the prince from drowning and then makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to exchange her voice for legs in order for her to spend time with him and get a chance to make him love her. Apparently, he is key in the final battle against Ursula.
The casting of The Little Mermaid sparked heated debates globally as Disney roped in a black actress to play the lead role of Ariel the mermaid. While this is not the first time a person of colour is representing a Disney princess, it is definitely he first a person of colour has taken over a previously white-girl role in a live-action film. And we couldn’t be happier about it!
